3 Early 2021 Running Back Sleepers

Early 2021 Running Back Sleepers

Today I will be talking about 3 early 2021 running back sleepers for the 2021 fantasy season.  Chase Edmonds, Damien Harris and Jeff Wilson are three players that could outproduce there current ADP. While it is very early there is reason to believe these late round players could outproduce there current ADP. All 3 early running back sleepers have a ton of upside but also a ton of risk. Yet drafting them as RB 3s and 4s minimized that risk. Their individual situations can change my opinions on them a few months down the line. Yet for now let me tell you why these guys are early 2021 running back sleepers for me. (ADP is based on Fantasy Calculator).

Chase Edmonds – ADP RB 32

Chase Edmonds currently is being drafted as a mi-flex player. Yet I fully believe he is being slightly undervalued at this point for PPR leagues. Last season Edmonds saw 68 targets which was 6th for running backs. He did this while only receiving 45% of the snaps. Edmonds also saw 40 slot snaps which was 3rdamongst running backs. He posted a 1.02 fantasy point per opportunity which was 29th.  We have seen Edmonds in the past have stretches of terrific play when given the opportunity. If Drake does not return he should get a little bit of an expanded role dependent of who they bring in. While he will never be a bellcow he will be a crucial part of the Cardinals pass game and could beat this current ADP.

Damien Harris – ADP RB 38

Damien Harris is a player I am a bit higher than his current ADP. New England is a team that is going to rely on the run game a bit more in 2021 to me. In limited time Harris averaged 69 yards per game and 5 yards per touch. Harris also was able to create yards by himself. He had 40 evaded tackles and created 1.7 yards per touch. The reason I am optimistic about Harris is because the team will have more opportunity for him in 2021. Rex Burkhead and James White probably will not be back with the team. That leaves Damien Harris and the often injured Sony Michel. Harris could be a low end RB 2 at RB 4 price.

Jeff Wilson – ADP 40

Jeff Wilson is a guy who could be a dart throw in the later rounds. Currently at ADP 40 I think he has a ton of potential. The biggest thing Wilson needs exceed and RB 4 ADP is opportunity. He had 5 games of 15 plus touches in the 2020 season. In 4 out of those 5 games he posted top 10 fantasy numbers. In 11 games that he played he had an absurd 10 touchdowns. With Jerick McKinnon most likely gone next year that leaves Raheem Mostert and Wilson as the running backs. Mostert was plagued with injuries last season and there could be a chance they use more of a rotation. To me if Wilson can get more opportunity he will easily be a flex play every week and smash this early ADP.
