Running Backs to Stash

running backs

Instead of going through with running backs to buy I am going to discuss the deep sleepers at the position. The first two to three rounds are full of top notch running backs that people are going to buy. Yes running back heavy is the way to go this year to me. Wide receivers are deep. Quarterbacks are deep. Tight ends are deep. You should grab your running backs. Yet if you miss out or need some later round prospects I have got a few I love. The ADP next to the players name is based on Fantasy Pros consensus ADP

J.K. Dobbins (RB 32)

Dobbins needs to be taken seriously as a fantasy football league winner. Drafted in the second round he landed in the perfect spot for a running back. Dobbins is a gifted physical runner who has an ability to pass catch. During his final season at Ohio St he posted an incredible 2003 yards rushing on 301 carries and 23 total touchdowns. His vision is very solid and I believe he can be a 3 down back.

Now let’s point out the obvious. Yes the Ravens backfield is crowded. Yet this team ran the ball almost 600 times last season. When you look at the splits you see the usage between Ingram and his backups was not that much. Ingram carried 202 times while Edwards and Hill carried 191 times combined. I fully believe Dobbins is talented enough to take over that number 2 role. With Ingram’s age and injury history there is no guarantee he plays the full season in my opinion.

There is also the idea of the Lamar Jackson effect. Yes I have heard that he may rush less this upcoming season. However teams are still going to have account for his ability to rush every single snap. This ability in the Ravens offense allows for the Ravens running backs to be super efficient. Dobbins has a big play ability we have seen in college that can translate well for the NFL. Dobbins is a player you want to roster in case he gets his opportunity. For now and the future he will be elite.

Latavius Murray (RB 40)

Perhaps a bit of decency bias but Murray has been undervalued to me. He will still get work even with Kamara there. We know that the Saints use multiple running backs at time. With a touchdown upside Murray be a solid later option. He should be flex worthy and will out produce this ADP as he is just super efficient to me.

A.J. Dillon (RB 54)

Dillon is a player that was drafted with high draft capital on a team that already had running backs. Yet he is a guy you should target especially if you are off of Jones. Dillon is a freak athlete who can steal some touchdowns in this offense. I have said all offseason the Packers will use a RBBC and I have Jones as one of my biggest bust. All of it is due to this guy who you should stash on your bench.

Chase Edmonds (RB 51)

Chase Edmonds is a fantasy football handcuff that I love this football season. I am very high on Kenyan Drake but I understand the risk involved. He has never been a workhorse a full season and has some injury concerns. The majority of weeks throughout the season we saw Cardinals running backs as an RB1. David Johnson, Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds. Edmonds dominated in a week 6 performance against the Giants that showed him getting 4 touchdowns. The guy has talent and I want every part of this Cardinals backfield. If you get Drake please get Chase Edmonds. If not another person may have found a league winner.

Bryce Love (RB 66)

Bryce Love was one of my favorite prospects before getting hurt. He has a ton of talent yet who knows where he is after missing so much time. He did put up 2000 yards his junior year at Stanford and was a projected 1st round pick after his Junior year. Talent wise he could be a starting running back in this league. With the way the Washington Football team’s running backs are looking any of them could produce. So why not take a shot on a guy that is going basically undrafted. Grab him and if he does not produce drop him for a waiver target or kicker
